The Gutters we Install:
We install Seamless Aluminum Gutters. We form the gutters on site. The Aluminum comes on a roll, and is a thickness of .032 mil. This is the heaviest gauge aluminum that can be ran through a gutter forming machine. We place our hangers 24 to 30 inches apart. Some gutter companies will place hangers as far as 4 feet apart!
Things to Consider when Hiring a Company to Install Gutters:
As we all know, the lowest bid is not always the best choice. A company may have the lowest price up front, but if by winter your ice filled gutters are falling off the house because the gutters that were installed are light gauge with hangers every four feet, the gutters aren’t such a great value anymore. Here are some things to look for when hiring a company to install your gutters:
Some of these are obvious, but maybe still worth bringing up.
- Is the company reputable. Are they going to give you a low price up front, but then do a poor job installing. If you have corners that leak, or something else you’re not happy with, will they come back and make it right? Check out their reviews. There are numerous places to check online: The Better Business Bureau, Google, Angie’s List, Home Advisor, etc.
- How is the hiring process? Does the company provide a detailed professional estimate. Do they provide different options? If a company slacks on the estimate, will they fall short on your gutter install?
- How heavy is the gutter material? We use .032 mil aluminum, so you have heavy gauge gutters.
- How far apart do they place the hangers. If it’s more than 30 inches, in our opinion, it’s too far.
- Do they use a level? Some companies install by sight. If it looks like it’s running down hill, they think it must be. Buildings are not always perfectly level, if a gutter looks like it’s running down hill, it may not be. A level is crucial. It helps to ensure water runs down towards the outlet hole. It also helps to make that downhill run gradual, so the gutter install looks professional.
- Is the name of the company Schmidt Seamless Gutters? If so, this is probably your best choice.
